Biography

Jorge Patiño, born in Cali, Valle del Cauca, in 1980, is a prominent contemporary sculptor whose primary focus lies in creating sculptures using bronze and steel wires, employing his own original technique. From an early age, Jorge demonstrated a strong interest in the plastic arts, leading him to explore various forms of artistic expression. Starting in 1996, Jorge began delving into artistic metalwork, where he executed his initial artistic endeavors in sculpture. Between 1999 and 2005, he resided in the La Buitrera district, near Cali, where he had the opportunity to study and experiment with diverse sculpture, painting, and craft techniques.

During this period, Jorge had the invaluable chance to work and learn alongside renowned sculptors and painters of the region, who imparted their knowledge and techniques to him. The diversity of techniques Jorge acquired during those years is reflected in his current work. His artistic approach is oriented towards modern figurative art, with a slight minimalist influence. However, the most remarkable aspect of his work lies in his unique technique, which enables him to capture the essence and spirituality in each of his creations.

Through the use of metals such as wire, steel, bronze, as well as polymers, resins, stone, and paints, Jorge achieves a wide range of forms and textures in his sculptures.
